Hot Tops : used in Stainless Steel furnaces

The use of hot-tops during steel ingot casting is to eliminate the shrinkage cones which forms during the change of steel from liquid to solid state. It acts as a reservoir to keep metal in molten condition until complete solidification of the ingot.
